Gilbert

Gilbert is the pet cat of Caillou and his family. He's one of the most reoccurring characters in the series, with him making appearances since the first Season. He also makes appearances in the Puppet Segments, along with Rexy and Teddy, where he is shown speaking, unlike the animate segments.

He has grey fur (with black stripes on his back and belly), a blue spot on the right of this head, a red nose, and an orange collar (that has a tag in Season four and five).

Not much is known about Gilbert's past, but as shown in A New Member of The Family, he came from a animal shelter and was possibly born there, as he's shown as a kitten in the episode. At first, Gilbert was a bit shy when interacting with Caillou, but overtime, Caillou learned to be calm with Gilbert, and they both started liking each other. Caillou thought he was allergic to cats because he was sneezing near Gilbert, but it turned out to be because of the flea collar.

In the Puppet Segments, he is shown to be wise and mature, with him shown being a mentor to Rexy, who is shown to be young and naïve. He also likes writing and making poems and knows a lot about Caillou's neighborhood. He is also shown to hate dogs, especially the big neighborhood dog.
